Great video work by Leni Dothan @leni_dothan at Richard Saltoun @richardsaltoun in the Matrescence show. Loved the mixture of maternal love, patience and boredom, really captured it and I’ve been there too!

‘Matrescence’ is a term coined by Dana Raphael (anthropologist in 1973) meaning transitional period of shifting the body and psyche in the process of becoming a mother, one that is never fully resolved. I like this term as it encapsulates the eternally changing role of a mother in general, no matter how old your kids are (nurse, teacher, cook, cleaner, tutor, driver, advisor, sounding board, shoulder etc etc)
